Transforming eye health in Kenya
Partnering to deliver better eye health
Peek Vision began life as a research project in Nakuru County, Kenya, more than a decade ago. Since then, our partnerships in Kenya have played a central role in shaping the evidence, technology and delivery models that now underpin Peek’s activities across Africa and Asia.
Today, we have a direct agreement in place with Kenya’s Ministry of Health, and we work in partnership with county governments and leading NGOs and hospitals to strengthen school and community eye health services in 12 counties.
Our partners in Kenya include:
- Ministry of Health
- CBM Christian Blind Mission
- Sightsavers
- The Fred Hollows Foundation
- Operation Eyesight Universal
- Eldo Eye Center
Together, we are making eye health services more efficient and equitable through large-scale screening and data-driven optimisation.
Major initiatives utilising Peek in Kenya include the Vision Impact Project led by CBM and the Ministry of Health, and the Sightsavers-led Focus on Clear Vision project.

Kenyans connected to eye care
Before embracing the use of Peek in our eye health programmes in Kenya, we had struggled with getting real time data. With Peek, a click of a button provides us with real time data that has helped us continuously learn and make decisions in a timely manner.”
David Munyendo
Country Director, CBM Kenya
We are excited to work with Peek to use technology to reach the most vulnerable population groups, improve access, ensure the continuum of care and leave no one behind.”
Sumrana Yasmin
Technical Director for Inclusive Health, Sightsavers
Since Peek was introduced, I see timely data from the community screeners and know how many patients have been referred. I can plan an outreach with clarity depending on the clinicians and supplies at hand… It has been a total game-changer.”

Vision Impact Project
Led by CBM Christian Blind Mission and Kenya’s Ministry of Health, the Vision Impact Project (VIP) was a major four-year initiative beginning in 2022, to increase access to quality eye care across seven counties.
Focus on Clear Vision
Peek is working with Sightsavers to expand access to eye care in Kenya and Nigeria through their Focus on Clear Vision programme. The project launched in 2025 as part of a major Bloomberg Philanthropies’ initiative to boost eye health services and help address the global vision crisis.
Innovation rooted in Kenya
Kenya continues to be a major hub for Peek’s research, innovation and systems integration work.
Building stronger eye health systems together
We work with governments, NGOs and eye hospitals to improve access to eye care through scalable, data-driven programmes.
