Led by CBM Christian Blind Mission and Kenya’s Ministry of Health, the Vision Impact Project (VIP) was a major four-year initiative beginning in 2022, to increase access to quality eye care across seven counties.
Using Peek, the VIP has delivered large-scale vision screening in schools and communities, strengthened referral pathways and generated data to guide planning and service delivery.
Key achievements include:
- 10 Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness surveys carried out using the Peek-powered RAAB7 tool
- 1,200 Peek software users trained for school and community programmes
- 5.9 million people screened and 962,000 connected to care using Peek
- 76% of cases managed at the primary level
- Referral pathways strengthened, with 1,385 primary health facilities and 6,450 schools connected, in addition to 18 secondary or tertiary facilities
- Adoption of Peek software by county governments beyond the end of the project
