Peek Vision took part in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting Forums in London on 17 and 18 April as part of a special Vision for the Commonwealth stand.
Showcasing the latest technologies to address poor vision and blindness, the stand was organised by vision campaigners Clearly, and was also attended by Peek research collaborators from the NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre and City University’s Crabb Lab.
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting takes place every two years, and provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the 53 Commonwealth nations to address shared global challenges. The meeting Forums provide a platform for wider debate of some of the key issues and challenges, and are attended by hundreds of high-profile and influential individuals from across the Commonwealth.
Peek team members provided live vision checks to delegates using the award-winning Peek Acuity app. Dr Peter Jones gave participants the opportunity to experience the world with vision loss using innovative virtual reality technology developed at Moorfields BRC and Crabb Lab, and the Clearly team were on hand to raise awareness of their mission to help the world see clearly.
Speakers at the Forums included Microsoft founder Bill Gates and UK Prime Minister Theresa May. The event was also attended by Her Royal Highness Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who spent some time at the stand meeting James Chen, Founder of Clearly, and had Peek technology demonstrated to her by Peek Director Tim Carter (pictured).
