Using technology for eye health impact in Africa

Peek Vision wins the 2021 Tech4Good for Africa Award

Peek has been named as the winner of the Tech4Good for Africa Award at this year’s virtual Tech4Good awards ceremony. Peek was recognised for its smartphone technology and public health tools that help its partners deliver more efficient, more effective and more equitable eye health programmes in multiple countries across sub-saharan Africa and beyond.

Peek Community Eye Health System significantly increases access to care for people with eye problems

The Peek community eye health system with an integrated decision-guiding app has been shown to almost triple the number of people with eye problems attending primary care, as well as increasing appropriate uptake of hospital services, compared to the standard approach. The new peer-reviewed findings come from research carried out in Kenya, published in The Lancet Digital Health.

Peek-powered community eye health programmes launch in Ghana

Eye screening is underway in Ghana as part of the first programmes launched through Peek Vision’s new partnership with Vision for a Nation (VFAN). The programmes aim to deliver eye health care at the community level, by making it available in all primary health facilities in the districts.
